It's frightening to me, the number of people I meet, who complain about the inability to lose weight, despite eating a "SUPER CLEAN" diet...
They read every label, scrutinize every element of every food... Does it cause inflammation, is it pesticide/herbicide/hormone free, is it gluten-free, non-allergic, free of dyes, preservatives, and heavy metals? Is it organic, certified organic, free range, cruelty-free, etc? Vegetarian, lacto-ovo vegetarian, vegan, soy-based or soy-free, farm-raised or fresh-caught?
All this scrutiny over the origin, content, and processing of food... yet they are still overweight, or even obese!
So many people feel that they can seemingly eat all of ht the healthy food they want... and magically lose weight. As if non-GMO gluten-free potato chips are going to help them lose weight! They fail to understand that calorie balance is the MOST important element of health, and maintaining a healthy body-fat percentage.
Then there are the "ultra-skinny/fat" vegetarians... They are supper skinny due to a complete lack of ANY muscle mass from decades of protein deficiency... yet they are flabby everywhere, with arteries caked with cholesterol. WHAT??? Vegetarians with high cholesterol?? YES! Health is based in being LEAN... not LIGHT! There are plenty of normal or under-weight people walking around with HIGH body fat percentages. You see them everywhere, men with skinny arms, skinny legs, and a "bowling ball" stomach... women with arms so thin their elbow joints are the biggest circumference of their arms... and saddle bags. These people are no healthier than obese people! There are also plenty of "heavy" muscular people walking around with low body fat and VERY low cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar... including yours truly!
In summary:
I'm FINE with people picking a choosing their food sources, even though the United States has the cleanest, safest, and most nutritious food supply on earth (and most of us take FULL advantage of that by over-consuming), and aside from easily fixable (washable) pesticide presence on the surface of commercially farmed food, our "normal foods" are proven no less nutritious than "organic" foods... Be picky of the sources all you want... but if your calorie intake is too high, or your balance of protein, carbs, and fats are off... You are NOT going to get leaner, lighter, or healthier!
If you are one of these people who eats VERY clean, "super-healthy" foods... but still can't control the scale... PLEASE come see us! We can get you on track.
