Burn Fitness 101: Aging
and Body Fat Gain… We Can Fix That!!
It is pretty much accepted in the medical community that most people lose about one pound of muscle per year after age 30 or 35. This is a “normal” part of the aging process. We also know that most people tend to gain a little weight through the years too. In fact, as long as you eat the same number of calories on average, year after year, your body should remain the same weight… but somehow the same number of calories tends to result in an increase of a few pounds every year on the scale. This is because as we lose muscle, our metabolism slows. The same calories that last year kept us lean, now make us fat!
For many, this gradual loss in muscle, and corresponding increase in fat is simply a “normal/expected” part of getting older. Eventually, we get sick of it, and go on a diet. Unfortunately, the short-term drop in weight from the diet inevitably results in accumulation of MORE fat in the long run, so we seek out yet another “better” diet. That works for a while… and then the fat comes back worse than before. Worst case scenario, now we resort to extremes: “medically supervised weight loss” and the associated drugs. We get “great” results from this, but as soon as we get off the drugs… the weight (fat) comes back, but this time WORSE than ever.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just go back in time! Go back to age 30 or 35 again, when we could eat a lot and never gain fat!
I’m telling you now…. YOU CAN!
Impossible??? NO… IT’S NOT!
How? Well, here’s how. Go back a read sentence number one: “It is pretty much accepted in the medical community that most people lose about one pound of muscle per year after age 30 or 35.”
What if you didn’t lose that pound of muscle per year? What if instead of losing those 10-20 pounds of fat-burning muscle between 30 and 45, you had simply exercised regularly and kept it? What if you actually had ADDED a few pounds, not massive body-builder muscle, but just a few pounds of “Fitness Model” muscle? That added (retained) muscle mass would have worked the last 15 years to burn fat as you slept. It would have burned MORE while you walked, climbed stairs, pushed paper, and jumped to conclusions! It would have kept you looking 30 or 35 (except maybe for a few wrinkles)!
Well… it’s too late now! Hell, it would have been nice if I could have started 15 years ago! I wish I knew that 15 years ago!
Wrong… It’s NOT too late. You see, with correct/intelligent strength training, improved nutrition, and a moderate amount of sweat, you can comfortably gain BACK 15 years of lost muscle… in less than a year.
“A YEAR???”
Not always. Sometimes it’s less, but that’s a trade off with that pesky “sweat and nutrition” part. But the good news is, YES… you can replace 15 years of lost muscle in 1 year or less. We’ve done it MANY times with MANY clients.
You see, metabolism is a very complex and difficult moving-target that’s tough to explain… but very simply one MAJOR component of your metabolism that you can absolutely impact… is your “former” muscle mass.
